2024 Roaming Monk National Park Visit Results

Our Third Year of focused National Park Service travel was a big success and while we would always want to visit more park units, the ones we did visit were very memorable.

As usual, a big thank you to the National Park Travelers Club, as their club was an amazing help and resource for me as I started out on this journey!

Some Key Milestones Met

We had a lighter visit schedule this year, with only four major trips, but they really were cool. Two visits to the Florida brought us to some key national parks in that state and requiring only one more park unit to mark that state complete.

Visited One Hundred Total Parks

Over the course of 2024, we were able to hit a key milestone before the end of the year, 100 National Park units visited! A visit to the Martin Luther King, Jr. NHP in Atlanta brought us right to this key level.

Sixteen New Parks and Visited a New Region

While we were not able to match visiting four regions like we did in 2023, we were able to visit our first park units in the Midwest. A mix of a National Park visit and a Presidental historic site provided some unique sites on this family visit to Ohio.

While the pace of park visits slowed in 2024, we made up for it with some really interesting units. Everything from a National Park, Seashore and even an Ecological Preserve.

Visits by State

Along with not matching the four regions from 2023 we also reduced the number of states visited to only five. Again, a major focus was visiting sites in Florida.

Focus on the Southeast

Again, no surprise on the region totals given focus of our vacations. Except for one trip to Ohio, we kept the targets on the east coast in 2024. Clearly, we need to expand into the Southwest and PNW in 2025, 2026 and beyond.

Our National Park Visits in 2024 Increased

Looking specifically at National Parks, we made a solid contribution to visiting these 63 units this year with visits to all National Parks in Florida and a key one in Ohio adding four to the overall total of 17.

The overall visits in 2024 were not astronomical, but I believe what we did not have in quantity we made up for in diversity of locations.

2025 may also be a slower year with us taking some vacation time overseas, but don’t worry, we will still make visits and keep marching toward our goal!
