About
The Roaming Monk
Hello! My name is Dennis, and I am a husband, father, traveler, thinker, photo taker, trail walker and National Park stamp collector, living near Williamsburg, Virginia.
I have always enjoyed traveling, from family road trips to Florida to overnight stays at summer camp. After college I traveled to Europe and lived abroad for over four months. This gave me new perspectives on life and the world.
Now, I am on an ultimate journey to visit all 430 National Park units in the United States. The Roaming Monk blog was started to provide others with help as I make this journey!

My Philosophy
- I do not write about a place unless I have been there. All guides and posts are informed by our family’s personal experience.
- All photographs on our site are taken by us. Stock photographs are not used.
- We pay for all our trips. We do not take discounted trips or offers from 3rd parties or tourist boards.
